Introduction:
There are many people in this world who believe they should be on a diet. There happens to be a lot of different diets. Some are good and some are bad. That's why I feel that the "Mediterranean" diet is a good diet. Health wise this diet is low in saturated fat but high in dietary fiber and monounsaturated fat. The Mediterranean diet is very accessible, you can go to any local supermarket and purchase the products. I think that this diet is good for me and other people because it can lower blood levels and blood pressure.
Main Body:
"Health Argument"
The Mediterranean diet is good as a diet because they have far lower rates of cardiovascular disease than in countries like the United States, where similar levels of fat consumption are found.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediterranean_diet)
Unlike the high amount of animal fats typical to the American diet, olive oil lowers cholesterol levels in the blood. It is also known to lower blood sugar levels and blood pressure. In addition, the consumption of red wine is considered a possible factor, as it contains flavonoids with powerful antioxidant properties(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediterranean_diet). The Mediterranean diet also advocates the Mediterranean diet also contend that red wine, which is consumed frequently in Mediterranean diets, is also a significant factor in reducing heart disease. Although this has not been proven yet, red wine is renowned for their antioxidant qualities and contains bioflavonoid, which helps to eliminate bad toxins in the body. (http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/diets/mediterranean-diet/).
"Accessibility Argument"
The Mediterranean diet is common to the regular diet which consist of high consumption of fruit and vegetables, bread, wheat and other cereals, olive oil and fish; making them low in saturated fat and high in monounsaturated fat and dietary fiber. Nonetheless, green vegetables, a good source of calcium and iron, are used in the Mediterranean diet as well as goat cheese (a characteristic of Malta), a good source of calcium.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediterranean_diet). You can go to any regular supermarket and buy these things. As well as seafood, goat, sheep, pita bread, hummus, falafel, barbecue or grilled meats. Lots and lots of olive oil. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuisine_of_the_Mediterranean). Moderate consumption of fish and poultry. Moderate consumption of wine (two to three times a week).
Low consumption of eggs and red meat. (http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/diets/mediterranean-diet/).
"Ethical Argument"
People think that you are clogging your arteries because of all the oil, but that is not true. The Mediterranean diet works on the notion that most of their meals consist of monounsaturated fats (ie. olive oil) which counteracts the animal fats. Unlike animal fats, monounsaturated fats do not raise blood cholesterol levels. Monounsaturated fats are the ‘good’ fats which are required for the body in order to function properly. (http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/diets/mediterranean-diet/)
Mediterranean diet also contends that red wine, which is consumed frequently in Mediterranean diets, is also a significant factor in reducing heart disease. Although this has not been proven yet, red wine is renowned for their antioxidant qualities and contains bioflavonoid, which helps to eliminate bad toxins in the body. (http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/diets/mediterranean-diet/)Current studies are investigating how close the Mediterranean style diets are to the AHA (American Heart Association) dietary guidelines. It is evident that those who follow the Mediterranean diet consume less saturated fats then those who are on the average American diet. However, there are some key similarities. For instance, the USDA food guide pyramid comprises many of the foods that are emphasised in the Mediterranean diet. If these studies prove that the Mediterranean diet is an effective way of reducing heart disease then it will have significant repercussions for the health community.(http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/diets/mediterranean-diet/)
"Opposing Argument"
With the good has to come with the bad. Yet, in modern societies an unhealthy lifestyle is often found, which is characterized by a diet, rich in animal food products, low in plant food (especially vegetables and fruits), rich in saturated fat, low in fibre, lack of physical activity and stress. Unfortunately, this lifestyle is now commonly also seen in the Mediterranean countries. It is therefore expected that in these countries higher rates of diseases promoted by the Western lifestyle such as coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer will occur. For this reason, nutritionist are trying to revive the traditional Mediterranean lifestyle in those countries and to introduce its features in other countries. (http://www.chdtaskforce.com/hearthealthy/Schmackhafte_Vorbeugung/mediterrane-ernaehrung.html)
Then again this diet is like the traditional diet but still it is good to know what you are eating and to start eating healthy because this country is complaining that they are fat or that they are obese, people please.....you should know what you are putting in your own body.

Two Lenses: Nutritional & Spiritual
The apples are at eye level as well as the pinapples and oranges, so if you want to get any of these fruits, it should be hard to grab. Esecially for me because I'm short and I do have a hard time reaching for things so these friuts weren't that hard to reach. It was a whole section full of fruits, they were assorted and it was very colorful too.

fast food homework
When I left after school today I decided to go to McDonald's because I have been craving the snackwrap (ranch dressing) the crispy one. I ordered 3 since they are only 1.29 and they are small. I also ordered a small Dr.Pepper (my favorite soda). As I'm eating the wrap I had forgotten that they put cheese in it so I had open the wrap and pick out the cheese. But anyway I'm eating the wrap and I got so happy because I had been craving them for the longest, also I felt that way with the soda. When I finished I wanted more but then I would had looked crazy going back up there to order more snack wraps, then I went home to eat some more food.

Food Paragraphs:
*When you think of food, what comes to mind?
When I think of food, what comes to my mind is that I feel happy and I can't wait to eat what's infront of me. Then there some days that I feel upset or sad and I'll eat my feelings even though I could get mentally and physically stressed but food helps me when I have those days I also know that it is not healthy neither.
*Which foods create a noticeable physical reaction for you?
Chocolate is considered to be an aphrodisiac because when consumed you feel euphoric and happy just like oysters. Turkey makes you sleepy, just like pasta makes you feel tired. Sodium makes you retain water and raises your blood pressure. Sugar makes you hyper like caffine and it is probable that dark sodas give you stones. It is probable that "Mountain Dew' lowers your sperm count like those 50 cent sodas.
*Which foods seem healthiest to you? If you have infinate time and skill and money, what would your 3-day menu be?
Any foods that aren't chemically altered and and are harvested naturally.
My 3-meal menu would be; breakfast:french fries, toast with butter, bacon, scrambled eggs, and cranberry-raspberry juice. Lunch: Chicken ceaser salad. Snack: Apples with sugar, carrots with ranch dressing, and pineapple and iced tea with antioxidants and has to be caffine free. Dinner: Free range steak well done, baked potatoe with brocolli and macoroni (whole wheat) and cheese and leamonade.
*What should we eat?
We should eat everything whole grain, no additives, and no chemical alternations and well cooked and cleaned.

Introduction to locally available: White Cherries
A: What is it?
What I decided to choose is White Cherries, I saw these cheeries at a market by my house. These cherries are so good. What it is is a regular cherry but white and they are not as sweet as a red cherry and the texture was more fibery but it is still good.
B: Why is it good to eat?
The cherries have a source of vitamin c, smaller quantaties of vitamins and minerals, they supply in dietary fiber, have a rich source of antioxidants, can also relieve anthritis and gout. Basically it is good for your body and is very healthy.
C: Who sells it here?
D:Basics of how they grow it?
The Winter Rest
Tart cherry trees are very hardy and can easily handle even subzero temperatures, if the trees are in good condition as winter arrives. That's because nutrients are stored in the tree's root system. The winter is the perfect time for cherry farmers to prune the trees, cutting off branches. This allows the trees to be strong and helps to produce more cherries.
Early Spring
The buds of cherry trees start to swell as the days lengthen and the temperatures climb. It is a precarious time for cherry trees because cold temperatures at this time of year could destroy the crop. The best orchards are located on rolling hillsides and are near Lake Michigan or other large bodies of water. Heavy frosts generally roll off the hillsides and do not settle in the orchards. Most spring frosts are not severe enough to kill all the buds. Some frosts will only take the buds on the top limbs of the tree, while the ones below are untouched.
Flower Power
In May, the hillsides in "Cherry Country" become colorful panoramas as the cherry trees bloom. Early to mid-May is the peak blossom time for tart cherry trees. When the petals break away, they leave behind green buds that will eventually ripen into cherries. This stage of the development of cherries is referred to as "shuck split."

Quinoa Experiment
One of homeworks for the food course in Andy's class was to eith eat pasta, rice, or quinoa. I decided to try the quinoa. The quinoa was pasty and crunchy at the same time. It also looked like little worms according to my mom. It had a somewhat salty taste but it was still good. It doesn't fill you up as fast like rice or pasta. It is a very good healthy thing to eat. So you guys should really try the quinoa.
